Removing Barriers Reintroducing Possibility

Access shouldn’t decide where you get to go.

One year ago, Wellness Express Medical Transportation Ltd. was established with a simple belief: mobility needs do not cancel everyday life.

The service is built around dignity, comfort and inclusion — not around age. A ride might be for a hospital discharge today, an airport arrival tomorrow, then a family celebration, a beach day or a drive across Tobago next week.

This is transportation designed to make more of life possible, with the equipment and human support to meet each person where they are.

From hospital doors to beach days.

Wheelchair-accessible transportation in Tobago should work for the whole of life, not one narrow category of trip.

Wheelchair Transportation

Door-to-door accessible transport in Tobago with a powered rear lift, so many clients can travel without transferring out of their own wheelchair.

Hospital & Clinic Transport

Non-emergency medical transportation for appointments, procedures, hospital discharge, pharmacy stops and follow-up care.

Airport & Ferry Transfers

Accessible pickups and drop-offs for ANR Robinson International Airport, the Scarborough ferry terminal and inter-island travel days.

Accessible Tobago Tours

Beach days, scenic drives, family outings and customized island tours designed around the places you want to experience.

Stretcher Transportation

The vehicle can be configured for one stretcher while retaining seating for up to three family members, caregivers or medical personnel.

Caregiver Support

Caregivers on staff can be arranged when a client needs an extra set of hands, closer supervision or assistance throughout the journey.

Events & Everyday Trips

Graduations, weddings, banking, errands, family visits, special occasions or simply getting out for the day. Accessibility has no age and no single reason.

One vehicle. Configured around the person.

The Nissan NV350 is purpose-fitted for accessible transport, with a powered rear wheelchair lift and a cabin that can change with the journey.

The setup is planned around the passenger, their mobility equipment and the people who need to travel with them.

22.5–32″adjustable seat surface height
  • Can recline for passengers who cannot remain fully upright.
  • Adjustable height supports easier lateral transfers to beds and exam surfaces.
  • Crash-tested and WC19 compliant for use as a vehicle seat.
  • The platform supports accessories including an O₂ holder and IV pole.

Equipment suitability is assessed per passenger and journey. Manufacturer specifications shown for the Broda Traversa Transport Wheelchair.

Stairs shouldn’t end the journey.

When steps would otherwise block access, Wellness Express can add a mobile stairclimber to help bridge the gap between the door and the vehicle.

The setup secures the wheelchair to the stairclimber and is operated by the Wellness Express team. Share details or photos of the staircase in advance so the safest approach can be confirmed before pickup.

Medical when it needs to be. Everyday when it doesn’t.

A recent visiting family from the United States used Wellness Express to make their Tobago vacation easier to navigate with their child’s wheelchair. That is the point: accessibility support should fade into the background so the day itself can take over.

Caregivers on staff are also available to accompany clients who need added support along the way.

What families remember is how the journey felt.

Wellness Express made our family’s recent trip to Tobago completely seamless—it was worth every single penny. From the moment we touched down, we were greeted by their friendly and incredibly helpful staff. Since we were staying for a while, we opted for one of their packages. Not only did they handle our airport transfers, but they also spent a couple of days taking us on a tour of the entire island, enjoying a beach day with us, and helping care for our disabled son. The peace of mind and added comfort Nathan and his team provided allowed us to actually relax and enjoy our vacation. Not having to worry about accessibility and transportation for a fully disabled family member so far from home was invaluable. The entire team was warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to. To this day, our son still asks where his friends from Wellness Express are! They provide an essential, top-tier service with genuine heart.

I don’t even know where to start with this review! First off this was by far the best service me and my family could have gotten traveling to Tobago. It’s very hard to travel especially with making sure my brother who has cerebral palsy, comfortable. But he was handled with so much care and compassion and was able to experience vacation just like the rest of us. The staff are so lovely and made everyone in the group feel at home. Could not thank Nathaniel, Sheena, Roniecie and Winston enough. I greatly recommend going to them for any needed services in the island!!!

My experience with the Wellness Express team has been extremely positive. Mobility with a bilateral patellar tendon rupture injury is nonexistent, so getting out and about isn’t easy. They make getting to my various clinics extremely stress free. The team is always on time for my appointments and they’re extremely patient, understanding and mindful of my injury and concerns. I highly recommend this company to anyone going through a similar injury. Recovery is hard enough without added stress, fear and embarrassment, and this team takes all of that off your plate. 100/10 👌🏾

Questions before you book?

Every journey is a little different. These are the questions families and clients ask most often about wheelchair transportation and non-emergency medical transport in Tobago.

Do I have to transfer out of my wheelchair to travel?

Not necessarily. The accessible van uses a rear wheelchair lift and securement system so many clients can remain in their wheelchair for the journey. Your exact setup is confirmed before pickup.

Can you transport someone who cannot sit fully upright?

Yes, depending on the person’s needs. The Broda Traversa Transport Wheelchair can recline up to 90° and tilt up to 20°, giving the team more positioning options than a standard wheelchair. The van can also be configured for stretcher transportation.

Can someone travel with oxygen equipment?

Wellness Express can plan journeys around passengers who travel with oxygen equipment. The Broda Traversa platform also supports an optional O₂ holder. Please describe the equipment when booking so the team can confirm the safest setup.

Can family members or caregivers ride too?

Yes. The rear cabin can retain seating for up to three family members, caregivers or medical personnel in the one-stretcher or two-standard-wheelchair configurations shown on this site.

Is Wellness Express only for medical appointments?

No. Wellness Express provides hospital and clinic transportation, but also airport transfers, ferry transfers, island tours, family events, errands and general point-to-point accessible transportation in Tobago.

What if there are stairs at the pickup or destination?

A mobile stairclimber can be added when steps would otherwise make access difficult. Share photos or details of the staircase in advance so the team can assess whether the equipment is appropriate for the location.
